ASICS Launches Turkey Operations During Peak Growth in Jogging Activity

ASICS has launched its own local operation in Türkiye, but the evidence does not show that the move occurred during "peak growth" in jogging. The subsidiary formed in 2025, with a reported marketing handover in early 2026; ASICS products were already available through a local distributor. Walking and jogging are Türkiye's most commonly reported sport activity when measured together. However, the available survey provides a participation rate—not evidence that jogging growth has reached a peak.

When did ASICS Turkey launch?

The timeline has two important dates. According to public registry data reported by Find, ASICS Turkey Spor Malzemeleri Satış ve Pazarlama A.Ş. was incorporated on April 29, 2025 as a single-shareholder joint-stock company.

Legal incorporation does not necessarily mark the start of day-to-day operations. former ASICS Türkiye marketing manager Aziz Yiğit Gökalp reported that he transferred marketing operations to the newly established office on January 1, 2026. The clearest description is therefore a staged launch: corporate formation in April 2025, followed by an operational handover at the beginning of 2026.

Was ASICS new to the Turkish market?

No. Turkish Competition Authority material identifies Marlin as ASICS's sole authorized Turkish seller and distributor since 2018. The documented change is organizational.

ASICS moved from relying on its authorized distributor toward running its own Turkish operation. That is different from entering Türkiye or making ASICS footwear available there for the first time. For runners, this distinction prevents an easy misunderstanding. A new subsidiary may change how the company organizes local sales and marketing, but the supplied evidence does not establish changes to products, prices, stores, warranties, or customer service.

Does the data show peak jogging growth?

No published figure in the evidence demonstrates peak growth. TÜİK's 2025 Time Use Survey found that 11.7% of people aged 10 and older had walked or jogged during the preceding four weeks, making the combined category the country's most common reported sport activity. That result shows participation, not growth.

It also combines walking with jogging, so it cannot reveal how many respondents jogged or whether running participation rose separately. TÜİK describes the survey as its third edition, following surveys in 2006 and 2015. Those widely spaced observations do not provide an annual series capable of identifying a recent acceleration or peak.

How should runners interpret the expansion?

The evidence supports two separate conclusions: ASICS has established its own Turkish operation, and walking or jogging has broad participation in Türkiye. It does not prove that one development caused the other. When assessing similar market claims, check four points:.

  • Separate the company's incorporation date from the start of operations.
  • Distinguish a new subsidiary from first-time product availability.
  • Check whether activity data isolates jogging from walking.
  • Require comparable time periods and a calculated growth rate before accepting claims about "peak growth."
